Upkeep Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-08-02

Upkeep ("the app", "we") is a home-maintenance reminder app built to respect your privacy. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your data. It is written to be honest and plain, not to be long.

The short version

Upkeep does not collect, transmit, sell, or share what you record, and we run no server of our own. Everything you enter stays on your device unless you choose to turn on backup or export a file.

What data the app stores

Your maintenance tasks — name, area of the home, how often they repeat, when they were last done, notes — and the completion log, including what a job cost and any photos you attach, are stored only in an encrypted database and an app-private folder on your device. We never see any of it. By default it is never uploaded anywhere: Upkeep has no server and requires no account.

Photos you attach are copied into the app's own private storage. They are not added to your photo gallery and are not visible to other apps.

Camera and photo access

The app asks for camera or photo-library access only when you choose to attach a photo to a completed job. It reads the single image you pick. It never scans your library, and the permission can be declined — the rest of the app still works.

Optional backup (only if you turn it on)

Data we do NOT collect

App lock

You can lock the app behind your device's biometrics or passcode. That check is performed by your device; the app never receives or stores your fingerprint, face data, or passcode.

Notifications

Reminders that a task is due are scheduled locally on your device. Nothing is sent through a server.

Exports you choose to share

If you use the Pro PDF or CSV report, the file is created on your device and shared only through the share sheet you explicitly invoke. We are not involved in that transfer.

The shareable progress card shows only how many tasks you keep on top of and the app name — never a task, a cost, or a photo.

Purchases

Optional Pro features are sold through the Apple App Store / Google Play (via RevenueCat). Those platforms process the payment; Upkeep never sees your payment details.

Maintenance schedules are guidance, not a guarantee

The suggested intervals are common rules of thumb you can edit. They do not replace a manufacturer's instructions or a professional inspection, and doing a task in the app proves nothing to an insurer or a warranty provider.

Children

Upkeep is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
